Every year, more than 500,000 people visit emergency areas in the United States with bicycle-related injuries. More than 85,000 people were treated for bicycle-related mind injuries in 2009 2009, and of those, nearly half were children age 14 and youthful. There are about 600 bicycling deaths a calendar year, with two-thirds attributed to traumatic brain injury.
